This burl was given to me by my friend Ray, who processes firewood up in Pittsfield. I had intended for it to be roughly twice as tall as it is now but turning it revealed a major split in the wood that was well hidden on the surface. So I shortened it and as luck would have it another split developed after I finished turning it. So, instead of chucking it into the firewood pile I decided to mend it with the bow tie inlays. I think the result is quite interesting. The finished burl is about 8″ in diameter and 7″ high.
